What started as an overnight Vegas trip to see the Backstreet Boys at the Sphere turned into an unexpected three-day luxury experience at the Wynn Las Vegas. Between Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts perks, world-class dining, and accidentally discovering solo travel, this trip delivered! Below is my full Wynn Las Vegas Review, including details from every stop along the way.
The Spontaneous Planning (Or My Husband’s Brilliant Hint)
My girlfriend actually planned this entire trip based on a casual comment my husband dropped during a visit – that I’d mentioned wanting to see the Backstreet Boys at the Sphere. We were only a couple of weeks out from the show when I finally put my foot down: “Let’s go!”
I started researching places to stay, and while I have my go-to favorites from my twenties Vegas days , I’d always wanted to experience the Wynn. This felt like the perfect opportunity to finally splurge those hard-earned points. Other major strip hotels close by include The Venetian and Flamingo.
How I Hacked Luxury Vegas with Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts
Here’s where my travel hacking expertise comes in handy. My Amex has a “Fine Hotels & Resorts” program where booking approved luxury properties gets you incredible perks:
The Wynn FH&R Benefits:
- $150 spa credit (crucial Vegas hack!)
- Free breakfast (hello, legendary Wynn Buffet)
- Early check-in and late checkout (extra time for the spa)
- Free welcome drink
- Complimentary room upgrade when available
Plus the Amex bonus: $200 statement credit for booking through FH&R.
Using my expert girl math, these perks practically paid for our concert tickets! Sometimes the best luxury experiences come from knowing how to maximize your credit card benefits.

Why the Wynn Las Vegas Lives Up to the Hype
This post is unsponsored, and I cannot say enough good things about this property. The entire weekend was absolutely dreamy, and I’ve stayed at some incredible luxury hotels around the world including Baha Mar, the Ritz Carlton, and The Finest . The Wynn is comparable to Baha Mar, another Fine Hotels & Resorts property – that level of top-tier interiors, impeccable service, and exceptional dining across the board.
What sets the Wynn apart:
- Seamless luxury from check-in to checkout
- Multiple world-class dining options under one roof
- Spa and wellness facilities that rival any destination resort
- Prime location – we were literally adjacent to the Sphere
- Attention to detail that makes you feel genuinely pampered
Note: my room was on the “quieter” Encore side

Dining at the Wynn: A Culinary Tour de Force
Let’s talk about the food, because honestly, this might have been the highlight of my trip. I may have had steak at every single restaurant this weekend (don’t @ me), but each experience was completely unique. Here is my offical restaurant portion of the Wynn Las Vegas Review:
SW Steakhouse – The Showstopper
I managed to snag a seat at the bar and had one of the best solo dining experiences at The Wynn. The Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs champagne paired with King Crab Tater Tots – two flavor profiles I never thought I’d see in the same sentence, but it absolutely worked. The service was impeccable, and dining solo at the bar felt sophisticated rather than awkward.
Terrace Pointe – The Perfect Arrival Meal
While waiting for my room to be ready, I enjoyed steak and eggs overlooking the pool. There’s something so indulgent about having a leisurely meal while watching the Vegas scene unfold below you.
The Legendary Wynn Buffet
Using my FH&R breakfast credit here was brilliant. They had incredible gluten-free options, including pancakes and crepes – I literally cried happy tears. As someone with dietary restrictions, finding quality options at this level is rare and so appreciated.
Jardin – Perfect Morning Dining
On my final morning, I enjoyed breakfast at Jardin on the patio overlooking the pool. Another excellent steak and eggs experience, but this time with the pleasant Vegas morning weather.
The millennial triple beverage situation: one for fun, one for hydration, and one for health. This might be peak luxury morning energy right here.
Casa Playa – skip
While the ambiance and aesthetic is on point, I would skip Casa Playa if you’re trying to decide. The flavors were well done but I was left hungry and service wasn’t great.
Pro tip: The menu denotations for dietary restrictions at every Wynn restaurant are extensive and clearly marked.

The Backstreet Boys at the Sphere: An Unforgettable Experience
We had floor tickets, which meant we got the full energy of the Boys themselves rather than just the screen experience. Dancing and scream-singing our hearts out to songs from our youth with my girlfriends was pure magic.
What made the Sphere special:
- Intimate venue feel despite the high-tech setup
- No lines at bars or merchandise (we arrived right at showtime)
- Easy crowd flow – the limited space actually works in your favor
- Perfect Wynn location – while crowds were directed to longer routes, we had a short outdoor walk back to the hotel

Would I return? Absolutely, but next time I’d want seats higher up for the full immersive screen experience. The floor was perfect for the concert energy, but there’s clearly more to see from different vantage points. I honestly felt like I needed 3D glasses to enjoy the screen – maybe they’ll do that in the future, haha!
When Plans Change: Extended Wynn Las Vegas Stay
The next morning, I discovered all flights home were full #standbylife. Instead of panicking, I decided to extend my stay and booked another night at the Wynn. The hotel was incredibly accommodating, allowing me to book through the same Amex FH&R program while keeping the same room (and the same perks!).
This unexpected extension became a highlight.
Encore Spa: The Ultimate Reset
After my girlfriend headed to the airport, I had a spa appointment that literally saved my life. The cold plunge immediately cured my concert hangover (IYKYK), followed by a massage that worked out all the kinks from dancing like I was 15 again. I booked at The Encore spa as reviews noted it was more spacious, and an overall better experience than the Wynn.
Spa day hack: Your appointment gives you access to pools and sauna all day, so you can enjoy the facilities in whatever order works for you.

Awakening at Wynn Theatre: Vegas Entertainment
The concierge suggested I arrive 30 minutes before opening to snag a solo seat at the SW bar for dinner, which worked perfectly since I had tickets to Awakening at 7 PM.
About the show: This is a 360-degree visual and audio experience unlike any traditional theater. Sit in the middle to upper sections for the best view. The production blends every side of Vegas into one creative storyline – unexpected and absolutely captivating.
Book Awakening tickets – honestly, I think I had an advantage knowing absolutely nothing, so don’t spoil it with all the visuals ahead of time!
Solo travel tip: I brought my large airport tote with a layering jacket. Vegas indoor air conditioning can be brutal, and my backless romper wasn’t cutting it!
Dining Solo at Luxury Las Vegas Hotels
One aspect of this trip was learning to navigate luxury dining solo. At Jardin the next morning, I had another excellent steak and eggs meal on the patio overlooking the pool.
Solo dining tips:
- Bar seating makes dining alone feel natural and social
- Patio dining during Vegas mornings is ideal – comfortable even for hot climates
- Early dining means better service and more relaxed atmosphere
- Pool time with beverage service maximizes the luxury experience
Maximizing Wynn Amenities: The Full Experience
The Fitness Center
Well-equipped and included with your resort fee. I did some physical therapy with free weights (hello, mid-thirties body after two babies). The gym includes machines, weights, mats, and even a café with espresso and fresh juices.
Pool Areas
Multiple pool areas with different vibes, all with beverage & food service. Find a shaded spot in the afternoon – perfect for people-watching and decompressing.
Service Philosophy
Every interaction felt genuinely caring rather than transactional. From concierge to restaurant staff, the Wynn team made both my group experience and solo time feel effortless.
Benefits of Extended Luxury Vegas Stays
Sitting by the pool, initially anxious about my delayed flight but ultimately grateful for the extra time, I realized the value of extended stays at luxury properties.
What extended luxury stays offer:
- More time to experience amenities without rushing
- Deeper exploration of dining options across the property
- Better value from resort fees and spa credits
- Relaxed pace that maximizes luxury experiences
For frequent travelers: Extended stays at luxury properties often provide better overall value and more comprehensive experiences than rushed weekend trips.
